Mojoi Pantry Essentials: Dried Mushrooms

Dried mushrooms are packed with intense flavor that can really boosts the flavor of your favorite soups, stir-fries, and roasted dishes. Read on to find out how to properly rehydrate them before including them in your next great meal.

Welcome to Mojoi’s Pantry Essentials. Dried mushrooms elevate any dish, they are easy to store, and even easier to work with. Whether you are entertaining or simply cooking for loved ones, they are sure to be a great conversation starter and a hit in your kitchen.

It just takes a few minutes to get them ready to go! To use dried mushrooms in your next meal simply start by gently rinsing them mushroom with cold water. Next, place the dried mushrooms in a bowl with warm water to cover. Finally, soak the dried mushrooms in warm water for about 20 to 30 minutes or until softened. The exact soaking time will depend on the thickness of the caps. The warm water temperature should be roughly the same temperature as bath water.

Bonus: Idea for leftover Soaking Liquid.

The liquid from soaking the dried mushrooms can be used to enhance the flavor of a soup or it can be added to stir-frying vegetables to prevent them from drying out. It also makes a great vegetarian/ vegan-friendly substitute for chicken stock in recipes.
